I am soooooooo hungover right now. I went out last night for a few quiet ones but ended up getting completely wasted. I can't even have a day of doing nothing either as my boyfriend's band is playing a local festival, so after I've posted this I'm going to eat my MacDonalds and drag my lazy arse out of bed. Standard outfit for me but I thought I would take some pictures anyway. Links and standard drunken photos are at the end. Enjoy!

Festival Guide - Beauty & Fashion

The festival season will soon be upon us and for a lot of people the hardest part is actually figuring out what to take. I know from experience that the task can be quite daunting so I've decided to put   together a guide for anyone who is struggling. Obviously everyone is different when it comes to style but I'm just showing you what works for me. I'm only going to focus on the beauty and fashion side of things because lets face it - you don't need me to tell you to take some baby wipes and some wellies!

For me the most important thing about festival beauty is keeping products minimal and if possible, multi-use. You don't want to be taking brushes so cream products are a great option. Aside from cleanser - you're going to need a good moisturiser. Introducing Estee Lauder DayWear Sheer Tint Release... this product is not only a moisturiser but an SPF and a tinted base all in one. It doesn't have much coverage but it does give you a healthy tanned glow all while protecting and moisturising your skin. A similar product in terms of coverage is the L'Oreal Nude Magique BB Cream. If like me you want that little bit more coverage then something like MAC's Face and Body (the 50ml size) is the perfect product. It's water resistant, light to medium coverage and I find it best applied with your hands. Even though I wouldn't suggest taking full coverage make-up with you to a festival, if you feel like you need more coverage then take a higher coverage concealer. Something like Collection's Lasting Perfection Concealer is brilliant as it's long lasting and covers blemishes brilliantly.

Base complete the next few products really are a matter of personal taste. I don't bother with my eyebrows at festivals, I just pop on some brow gel to keep them tamed. For my eyes I like to smudge some waterproof eyeliner (usually brown) in with my fingers and then layer lashings of waterproof mascara on for that 'slept in my make-up' look. MAC's Splashproof Lash is absolutely brilliant - aimed at swimmers you really won't budge this stuff without remover. I don't tend to bother with bronzer either but if you did want something without having to take brushes then something like a Nars Multiple is ideal. My most used festival product has to be the Bobbi Brown's Pot Rouge. It's multi functional as it's for the cheeks and lips. It's compact. It's ridiculously easy to apply and looks incredible all day. There are similar products on the market so just go for whatever works best for you. I do still take another lipstick for those days where I just fancy rocking a bright lip so if you're the same take your favourite long lasting lipstick too. Oh and don't forget lip balm!

 

That's pretty much all I take. You really don't have time to sit and do your whole face every morning so my advice would be to find products that you know have longevity and have multi functional uses. Everyone is different and all of the products I've mentioned can be swapped for cheaper alternatives - they are just what work for me. The most important thing is having fun - not spending half your morning trolling on the slap.

This is pretty much my stereotypical festival day outfit. I cannot stress how much wear I get out of my high-waisted Levi cut offs. I wear them all year round regardless but they really are essential for me at a festival. You can wear them with crop tops - band tees - jumpers - trainers - boots - sandals - literally anything. Plus if it get's a bit cold you can pop some tights underneath them. I tend to wear them bare legged with some cute boots or my vans. Last year it was my beloved Chelsea Boots and this year my aim is to take the JC Coltrane's with me. Sunglasses and a Beanie are both essentials. You really will need to cover up your three day tent hair at some point...

Another way I like to dress at festivals is by mixing up different styles and textures. Wearing something like Dr Martens with a crochet skirt isn't for everyone but I think it adds an edge to the outfit. As most of my readers will know, I'm not the girliest of people and I understand that a lot of you are so you could of course swap the boots for something else. I think it's important to stay true to your own individual style  regardless of the occasion but I think festivals are a great way to be that bit more daring with your style.

I'm not going to go through a list of essential things you need to take because it's pretty obvious but I would suggesting investing in a good waterproof coat. You can get waterproof pac-a-parka's/macs on eBay and sometimes Topshop. These are brilliant to throw in your bag in case of unexpected rain showers especially if you're going to a festival in the UK. Also try and take clothes which can be worn with multiple things. Obviously I've shown you two outfits but I wouldn't necessarily take both pairs of boots. I personally take boots instead of wellies and also a pair of trainers but it's completely up to you what you want to take. You just have to remember that you will be carrying all of this on your back so try to keep it to a minimum.

 

I know this has been long but I hope it's been helpful in some way. I'm going to Hurricane Festival for the second time running this year which is held in Germany - the weather is usually a little bit better than in the UK so I literally cannot wait! How lovely has this bank holiday weekend been!? Finally got the chance to whip off the tights so thought I would very quickly snap what I wore out for tea with my friend on Saturday. As you can see I'm the most boring person ever and the pictures are crap as I took them on my iPhone but whatevz I don't get time to take a million pictures in a picturesque forest somewhere. The dress is really pretty actually, it's a sort of burnt out black with a really low scoop back from ASOS. You can see it better here. I wore it with my DC Trainers, Beanie and eBay bag (similar bag here).

I swear if I don't own those JC's soon I will just cry... forever. I want them so badly before I go away to Hurricane Festival. Envision this perfect festival outfit with me... rocking my pink floyd tee, throw on a pair of levi cut offs, holographic bag in tow and those boots... ahhh heaven. Back on earth though I might have to opt for a cheaper alternative *weeps* as I don't have £130.00 lying around. Loving this dupe for the Cambridge Satchel I came across on eBay. They have other colours too, thinking I might get this and the neon green. Right well I must go weep a bit more in the bath now over my beloved boots... sniffle.

I feel like I'm the worlds most boring blogger at the minute. I can't remember the last time I did an outfit post and I really want to get back into the swing of it. I'm sure you've all been there but I'm going through that stage where I hate all my clothes and I just want to re-style my whole wardrobe. I've always been a shorts, tee and trainers type of gal and I feel if I repeatedly post those outfits I would bore you and myself to tears. I've never been particularly feminine when it comes to clothes either so that's something I'm trying to incorporate into my wardrobe - without changing who I am of course. There will never be any glitter here girls. I might just buy some flatforms and settle at that hehe. But anyway without waffling I really am making a conscious effort to get back into outfit posting!
